I first met Chef Hide Yoshimoto when he was brought in by my friend Kevin Aoki to revamp the first Doraku Sushi restaurant, our neighbor in the Royal Hawaiian Center. Hide brought a fresh and radical way of creating modern Japanese cuisine to Doraku.
Fast forward a few years and Chef Hide has opened his own izakaya on McCully Street at Young Street. At Izakaya Torae Torae (pronounced To-Rray To-Rray), Hide continues to offer out-of-the-box, but amazingly flavorful and fresh Japanese dishes to his loyal fans.
Tom’s Tip: If it’s not too busy, ask Chef Hide to make you his special Dashimaki Tamago w/Unagi and Cheese. It’s not on the menu but Chef Hide will make it for you if he is not too busy. It’s simply amazing.

The “Attorney Shoe” was originally designed for the opening of LSDT, intended for the attorneys in Downtown Honolulu. For those who don’t know, attorneys are one of the only professionals in Hawaii who actually wear suits…sometimes. We wanted to create a classic dress shoe with a modern appeal and comfort.
The Attorney Shoe features a single oiled leather sole.

We’ve received a small restock of our original Ultimate Indy in brown Chromexcel. For those of you who have patiently waited for your preorder, someone will be in contact with you shortly. We have a very limited supply of available pairs for sale but they are already selling quick in-store so please contact us quickly if you are interested.
Alden’s #990 Plain Toe Blucher (PTB) has been our top selling shoe since day one back in 2004. So it’s funny that we’ve never thought about making a calf version after all these years. After all, as much as we love shell cordovan, there are many people who prefer calf.
After ten years we finally present to you the calfskin version of the #990 PTB. Instead of using burgundy “dress” calf, we chose to offer it in burgundy “trapper” calf giving it a slightly more casual and traditional look, guaranteed to patina and age with time.
